Krups Espresso Machines

There are really only a few major companies that automatically come to mind when you think of espresso machines, and Krups is definitely one of them, and for good reason. With prices and options for just about anyone, whether you are just starting out in the world of espresso or have been around the block a few times, Krups has something that will make just about everyone smile!

The Company

Krups is a German company that was founded around 1846, so it's been around as long or longer than almost every other espresso maker out there. Of course, they didn't start actually making coffee machines till around 1983 - which still gives them nearly thirty years experience in the field.

The company went bankrupt in 2001 and was bought out by a French company called Groupe SEB, who focus mainly on small appliances and things like that.

Krups Espresso Machines

As I said, they offer something for just about everyone, and because of this some people get sucked into the wrong machine. But before we get into their main machines, I want to give you a quick word of warning....

Unlike many espresso machine companies, Krups offers many very cheap espresso makers. You see them in super stores like Walmart or Target or even higher-end department stores and they cost anywhere from $20 up to $100 or so. These machines all look very nice, and if you're just starting out in the world of espresso, you may be very tempted to dabble your feet by purchasing one of them.

Don't do it!

The reason they're so cheap is because they're powered by steam instead of a pump. The only thing that makes espresso espresso is the pump powered machines. It's not the beans, or anything else, its the act of a high pressured pump forcing water over them that makes it espresso.

Steam machines attempt to mimic that pump action, but it isn't the same...all you're really getting is strong coffee, not espresso. So don't buy a $30 Krups steam machine thinking you are getting an espresso machine (even if it says espresso machine on the box!). Spend the extra money to get a pump machine, Krups sells many very nice ones (if you have your heart set on them!).

The Skinny

Here's the thing about Krups. They sell a lot of different models. Some are fantastic, while some are not so great. The trick is to watch the customer reviews and see what other people are saying. Reviews aren't always the best way to gauge a product, but in this case it seems to work like a charm.

Check out the links below, I review each of the major Krups models and show you a ton of customer reviews so that you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. Don't spend your money till you check the specific model in our links below! We also offer special deals and discounts quite often, so check that out as well because there's no need to pay more than you have to!

Krups is not the best espresso machine company out there, and they definitely aren't the worst. They're a really good middle of the row company with many very sleek looking stylish machines that are competitively priced. I highly recommend them to people who are just getting started or who are purchasing their first espresso machine. If you fall into that category, then a Krups espresso machine might be just the thing for you!
