Jura-Capresso ENA5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center

I've been a pretty big fan of Jura Capresso for a long time now, and I'm really happy that they've come out with their ENA series of automatic espresso machines. Why? Because machines like this Jura-Capresso ENA5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, with their lower prices, allow a lot more people to enjoy quality espresso with the ease of an automatic machine without forking out several thousand dollars.

Granted, because they cost so much less than other Jura models, the ENA series generally has less features and bells and whistles. But unlike some models in the series, the ENA5 has a great balance of features for the price. That's one of the reasons why I'm so happy to recommend it to my readers. But is it right for you? Let's find out.

Let's Look At The Machine

Jura-Capresso ENA5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso CenterLike most super automatic espresso machines, the ENA5 is a big boxy beast. But it's smaller than a lot of other automatics on the market today. In fact, that's one of the hallmarks of the ENA series.

It produces an impressive 18 bars of pump-powered pressure. That surprised me quite a bit. A lot of automatic machine that sit down around the lower price ranges try to scrimp by with only 15-bars, but not the ENA5. It also has 1,450 watts of power - which is quite nice too.

The water tank holds a little more than four and a half cups or one liter of water. That's certainly enough so that you aren't constantly being bothered by refilling it between shots.

This machine comes with a built in tamper, as you would expect, and built in grinder. The grinder is a conical steel burr grinder; none of this ceramic stuff that other lower priced machines try to give you. It also has a pre-ground system that lets you use pre-ground coffee if you like.

Of course, the ENA5 has a steam frother arm so that you can make all your favorite drinks like cappuccino, latte, mocha, Americano, and the like. It wouldn't be much of a machine without that!

This machine does it all; from grinding and tamping your beans, to pouring the perfect shot, to disposing of the coffee grounds and self-cleaning all in under a minute. You just can't go wrong with that much automation.

What Are Other People Saying?

There aren't many reviews out there, probably because there usually aren't for a machine in this price range. Even though it's cheaper than most super automatics - it's still darn expensive! There are, though, sixteen reviews at Amazon.

Seven people gave it a 5-star review and another four people gave it 4-stars. Then it had one 3-star, two 2-star, and two 1-star reviews. That comes to about 4 out of 5 stars on average; which is a very respectable number even though there aren't many reviews total.

After reading through all the reviews, there really wasn't anything glaringly wrong with any of them, even the poor reviews.

What's The Bottom Line?

If you're looking for a superautomatic espresso machine but don't have several thousand dollars to spend then this could very well be the machine you're looking for. For the price, there aren't really many other competitors in the same class as the Jura-Capresso ENA5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center. It's really quite amazing that you can get the Jura quality in a machine with this price tag. I'd jump all over it.
