Gaggia 90951 Platinum Vision Automatic Espresso Machine

I really enjoy talking about obscenely large super automatic espresso machines because they're so cool and they have so many interesting features. The Gaggia 90951 Platinum Vision Automatic Espresso Machine definitely falls into that category! At around $1,299 - it isn't for everyone. But it might just be the right machine for you. Let's find out!

Let's Look At The Machine

Gaggia 90951 Platinum Vision Automatic Espresso MachineThis is a 15-bar pump powered super automatic espresso machine that will do just about everything for you but take out your trash (though it will dispose of it's own trash - so to speak).

It has a boiler that's lined with stainless steel and a built in burr grinder that's ceramic. Some people may balk at that because they're used to seeing conical burr grinders and not ceramic, but ceramics are supposed to leach less flavor away from the bean - so go with it here!

The Platinum also has a neat little feature that allows you to use coffee beans that have already been ground. This is for all you people who like to buy pre-ground coffee (though why would you? Beans are fresher and the machine does all the work grinding them for you automatically).

It has a fifty-seven ounce water tank that you can take out pretty easily. That makes refilling the thing from time to time a lot easier and also allows you to clean the thing every now and then (otherwise you get that weird water slime that sort of starts to gather on the walls of the tank, and no one really likes that).

Like all other automatics out there, all you have to do is press a button and this beauty does all the work. It will grind the exact amount of espresso, pour the perfect shot, turn itself off and dispose of the used grounds all while you wait patiently.

There's also a cup warmer and frothing wand so that you can make your favorite cappuccino or latte drinks as easy as can be.

This is a big machine. Let's face it, all automatics are. But it has a pleasant roundness to it that makes it seem a little smaller than it actually is - and I really like that. Yet at the same time, it's sleek silver design will catch the eye of everyone who walks into your kitchen.

What Are Other People Saying?

There aren't many reviews for this machine. Usually there aren't for these super expensive super automatics. In this case, there were eleven reviews at Amazon, seven rated it 5 out of 5 stars, and four people rated it a 4 out of 4 stars.

There were no bad reviews. That's not really something I usually see. Even when a machine only has a dozen reviews, at least a couple of them are usually 1 or 2 stars, but not with this Gaggia model. People really seem to like it, and I think I can understand why.

What's The Bottom Line?

More expensive doesn't always mean "better", but in this case it really does. Gaggia is a world leader in espresso machines for a very good reason - and this machine is one of those reasons. If you're looking for an automatic espresso machine and don't want to spend $3,000 on a Jura-Capresso machine, then this is a great alternative.

So at the end of the day, I definitely recommend you give the Gaggia 90951 Platinum Vision Automatic Espresso Machine a try. You'll be enjoying espresso at the touch of a button for years to come with this super automatic wonder.
