Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder

You can easily spend hundreds, and even thousands of dollars on the perfect espresso maker, but if you don't grind your coffee beans exactly right, all that money will be wasted because you'll find yourself drinking espresso that's either too weak, too biter, or won't have good crema on top. That means you need a good coffee bean grinder like the Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, but should you pay this much for a grinder? Let's see...

Yes, it's true that you can go to Wal-Mart or Target and grab a cheap grinder for around $15 bucks. You can even browse their cheap selection and find a slightly nicer one for somewhere around $30-$40. Why not buy one? No one likes to spend $1,500 on an espresso maker only to have to turn around and shell out another hundred bucks or so on a grinder!

I Suggest You Reconsider!

Those cheap grinders at Wal-Mart are blade grinders, not burr grinders. There's a big difference and that difference can make all the difference in how well your espresso tastes!

I'll be the first to admit that I used one of those cheap blade grinders for many years. I just couldn't believe that it would make any sort of difference whatsoever and I can squeeze pennies together better than the best of them (ok, I'm a cheapskate). But I was wrong and I'm glad I finally broke down and bought myself one of these grinders.

What's So Special About Them?

Burr grinders don't use blades to chop up your beans, they use wheels to grind up your beans. There's a difference there, and it affects the oils in the beans.

Also, you can adjust them easily by moving the grinder wheels closer to the thing they grind against to vary the fineness or coarseness of the grounds. Of course, a good machine will do all that for you, and a cheap blade machine can't be adjusted at all. Which leads me to this grinder...

Let's Look At This Grinder

Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder
This is one of the most popular burr grinders on the market today. Capresso does everything well.

It's a 100-watt conical burr grinder that has truly commercial grade conical burrs. It comes with a bean hopper that holds about eight and a half ounces of beans (which is a little small, but my can of Illy is exactly 8.8 ounces so it's ok for me). The actual grounds container itself will hold around four ounces of ground coffee too.

You can probably see from the picture that there's a dial on the front that lets you easily vary the fineness of the grounds. That's important because every espresso machine is a little different and one machine might need grounds that are a little finer or coarser than another machine. Switching is as easy as turning the dial to a new pre-set number (there are 16 settings to choose from).

This machine also has a built in timer, so you don't have to pay close attention to it; it will grind exactly as long as it needs to depending on the setting you selected, then turn itself off. It's so easy to use, even a klutz like me can use it.

Finally, it looks nice. You'll enjoy seeing it sit on your counter next to your espresso machine.

What Are People Saying About It?

Even for a coffee bean grinder, this is a very well reviewed machine. I mean VERY well reviewed. At Amazon it has 734 reviews! 414 are 5-star and another 193 are 4-star. It also has forty-eight 3-star, thirty-eight 2-star, and forty-one 1-star reviews. That's a total of around 4 out of 5 stars on average. Very good.

People love this grinder and have ever since it came out several years ago.

What's The Bottom Line?

I highly recommend this grinder. It retails for $120 but we've got it below for just $84 and that's a spectacular price for a conical burr grinder of this quality. You really aren't going to find another brand cheaper than that (Cuisinart makes one for around $80; Krups has one for around $60 with less bells and whistles and not as good of reviews). After that, you're really looking at $150-$350 for a more expensive burr grinder.

For this price, the Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder is the grinder that I recommend to all my readers and friends. I suppose you would call it my "editors choice" for burr grinders! Grab one for the very nice price of only $80 at the link below while supplies last and start enjoying espresso the way it was meant to taste!
