Capresso 121.01 Ultima Espresso Machine

Capresso is the world-wide leader in high-end super-automatic espresso machines, and I don't think you could find anyone that would argue that. What people don't often realize is that they also sell several models of manual machines as well, and the Capresso 121.01 Ultima Espresso Machine is one that you might want to take a look at!

Before we get started, and just so I don't get your hopes up too high only to shatter them completely; I should point out that the Ultima can be a little tricky to track down. They're definitely out there, but sometimes you have to do a little web searching to find them. So keep that in mind!

Let's Look At The Machine Itself

Capresso 121.01 Ultima Espresso Machine

The first thing you'll notice is that this doesn't really look like a traditional espresso machine. It doesn't have that traditional boxy design. It's more rounded in nature and I really like how Capresso differentiates itself from the same old boring machine designs that everyone else cookie cutter manufactures.

This 1,200 watt machine is a true semi-automatic. Unlike most others in this price range, all you have to do is toss in your grounds and push a button. The Ultima will do the rest, tamping the grounds, pouring a perfect shot of espresso, and then disposing of the grounds afterwords! It collects the used coffee into a tray and a light flashes when it's time to empty the tray.

You really don't see that in other machines of this price range!

It has a fifty-three ounce water tank which is pretty huge and means you won't have to fill it very often. It also comes with a frother wand that lets you make your favorite espresso drinks such as cappuccino, latte, mochas, or whatever else you like.

One thing to notice is the height of the machine. It's tall enough to fit a regular sized coffee cup under the spout. That means you won't have to use those tiny little espresso shot cups and then pour them into your coffee cup by hand. That's a really nice feature that you don't often see elsewhere.

What Are Other People Saying About It?

At Amazon, the Ultima has 158 reviews (which is a lot!). Eighty-nine are 5-star reviews while another twenty-eight are 4-star. It also has twelve 3-star, nine 2-star, and twenty 1-star. That's about an average of 4 out of 5 stars which is just about as high as you ever see in an espresso machine.

What's The Bottom Line?

If you can find this machine, it's a pretty good deal for the price. It retails for $420 or so, but usually sells for around $299 - again, if you can find it. Luckily a little searching around on the Internet should do the trick pretty quickly.

Capresso is a leader in super-automatic machines, and with the Capresso 121.01 Ultima Espresso Machine, they look poised to take on the manual and semi-automatic market as well. I think you'll be pretty happy with this machine.
